The recent Women’s Autumn took place in brilliant sunshine at UCD, Dublin.
The tournament was organised in two sessions. The morning session was divided into two divisions: Competitive Division and Social Division.
In the Competitive Division, Donna and Sonia proved strong opposition for the others pairings winning all three matches in their round-robin. They won the event winning 18 games followed by runners up, Ciara and Alida.
In the Social Division, Fiona and Carmel proved a successful pairing, winning all three matches, 18 games in total. Runners up, Barbara and Angela were close, winning two matches and securing 16 games.
After lunch, ‘competitive’ players were paired off with ‘social players’ in a random draw. The afternoon session comprised a round robin format with 15 minute matches. Alida and Fiona came though winning 19 games while runners up were Carmel and Aideen winning 15 games.
Later that evening, the gang headed off to the Trinity Capital Hotel where Dublin Crystal was awarded to the winners. Marie presented the spoof prizes and, to save embarrassment, we won’t mention any names.
The next women’s tournament will take place indoors at West Wood Leopardstown on Sunday 7th December.
